The reason for the clarity being bad is because you are having to change to a lower bit rate. A regular cd in .wav format is 1411kbps. You are changing it to 8kbps, you see there is a large difference. The higher the bit rate better the clarity. Nextel phone will only accept 8kbps for wav ringtones and 32kbps for mp3 ringtones. There is no way to increse the volume unless when you edit the wav file in sound recorder to increase the volume...you may want to try playing with it to see how it helps.
