probably not your sim card probably those little gold pimples on the inside of the phone. You can use electronic cleaner on either I use a pen called gold gaurd works good to clean and protect contacts. depending on your phone try to stick a small folded piece of paper behind the sim not on the side facing the gold pimples then put battery in and see if that helps

Re: how to clean a sim card

make sure that the sim card is inserted all the way. It might be fried, but I had the same problem, and my card wasn't inserted all the way.

Re: how to clean a sim card

if you need a basic way to keep it some what clean use a newer eraser and rub the gold parts of the sim card, take it to a service center for cleaning the sim and phone contacts, or try bending a small strip of paper slide it behind the sim card not the front where the contacts are then insert your sim with the paper behind it causing it to have more pressure on the contacts if those tricks don't work you definately need to go to a service center
