prob with data cable

hey was up i just got a data cable and it say it dosent reconze that the usb cable is in use.. when i installed it, it was like it didnt have a xp digital singnal and on the packcage it says its can be used with the xp... basicly its not reconzineing that the cable in in the usb port??? and body know how i can fix this???????

are you sure its the cable you should not have to install anything when you hook up the cable, you start installiing stuff once the phone is hook up. I take it from your post it did ask you to install something right. Ok if it did than it is NOT the cable. What prgram are you trying to work with, my guess is it is my webJal or myJal, if that is the case make sure you have the usb box checked in the options try again if still no luck did you download eveything correctly.

i didnt even download webjai yet. as soon as i got the cable wire i tryed to hook it up to my labtop so that it would reconzie it the instuctions says install the software for the usb cable, then hook the usb cable to the port then hook the cable up to the phone... the my comp found new hardware and i tryed to install it it was like unable becuse the somthing dosnt have a xp signal or somthing like that.. i put intall anyway becuase it was like if installed thier might be some probems with the program.. annd so here i am very confused....

I think I am even more confused because a data cable does not send any info on its own so you laptop should not try to recognize it unless it has something attached to it. Does the cable have a switch on it that says "flash" and "data" or is it a normal cable? SOrry you have lost me a little because I have never had a comp try to install just the cable.

yea it came wit a installtion cd and everything lol its not one from nextel, all it does is charge the phone on my laptop

I would return it and try to go to a nextel store and buy a tru data cable possibly for some reason what you have may just be a charging cable???? I am so lost on this one though I hope you can get it resolved I would certainly try another cable ( entirely different ) and see if problem follows if not toss the old cable.
