i580 mp3s used as ringtones?

anyone know how to, or if it's possible to, use the mp3s loaded on the phone as assignable ringtones? it doesn't seem to be an option in any of the menus. is it possible there's a workaround?

Smile Re: i580 mp3s used as ringtones?

I have the new I580 and and using "lowjal" to post ring tones to my phone. There is a problem on the lowjal web site at the time I am writing this but I believe it should be back up and running soon. However there is seveval "idenloader programs" avaiable. Search for webjal. The ring tones must be in .wav format and there is a ton of those available also. Audacity is a music editor that is not to bad to use for the novice (me too) and you can edit mp3 and save a clip out of it and save it as a wav. There maybe easier or better programs to use. These are the ones I am using and its working for me. I use Microsofts photo editor to resize my photos for backgrouds. Easier to shrink not upsize(they come out ugly).
Motorala has a nice mp3 loader. And they also have a basic webjal program, can't load ringtones though. They also have a image downloader that may be useful.
One thing for sure you need a usb cable and idens usb drivers installed. I ordered mine off ebay with a photo disk. The images were mainly 96x96 so I don't use most of them. They are small and don't look right but they still work as long as the wallpaper is a "gif" Hope this helps. As far as Boost is concerned I really don't know.. Good Luck

MYJAL (10 day trial) is available through cnet download and it looks very simular to lowjal.
Backgrounds should be 176x220 in size for a nice fit.

also look at www.harrythompson.com for some good info

hey nextime and yes were back online. check the sig

and for the mp3 you need to make sure that your using the right format. you will need cooledit to edit some mp3s as the maker sometimes doesnt do it right.

i dont know if this site has all that stuff cause it seems dead but im sure youll find it.

Re: i580 mp3s used as ringtones?

I just got my I580 and love it. I can load MP3's in the music player but they are not reconized in the media center. I also cannot find the option to asign the MP3's as ring tones. I've even down loaded ring tones to the SD card, but I can't seem to assign them as ring tones. Its seems alot of people have this problem. Does the phone need to be hacked or updated some how?

Go to contacts choose one by hitting OK hit up button to highlite the contact name/the assighned ringtone. hit edit my left quick key. hit down oence to highlite ringtone/picture hit ok hit ok again to open up list to choose ringtone. Hope this works and is clear enough to understand. I can only use ringers that are loaded on phone, not on external card.

that only works with the ringtones that are on the phone, it will not allow you to use mp3's/wav files as a ring tone, unless there is a way to do that that i still havent found, if there is, can some one show me how to do it? cause it really sux that you cant make your own personalized ring tones
