i870 Charging Problems

I have an i870 Nextel phone and just a few weeks ago I got it a little wet and now I am having problems with charing the battery or powering the phone with a battery. I have been using my old nextel phone to charge the battery, and then the phone will work. I have a usb cable that I plugged from my i870 to my computer, and the computer reads it.. So my phone is using the battery, and my computer is reading the phone, but it wont power or charge my battery.. Is there anyway I can take apart the phone and see whats wrong with it.. any help would be great.

yeah you can take it apart and the problem you would find is corrosion or liquid damage done around the charging jack you need to get a special cleaning solution to get rid of that stuff temporarily. You can NEVER get rid of liquid damage for good it always come back. I would invest in a can of cleaner a correct toothbrush (not one from the bathroom) and good screwdriver and I would clean you phone once every couple of weeks liquid damage is funny because it can effect your phone in mysterious ways just clean it good or take it to a service center and ask if they can just clean the phone most can do it no problem.

Your best bet is to go to Radio Shack and get a contact cleaner pin and clean the charging contacts and the battery contacts and pray that it works for awhile Good luck !
