Bluetooth
Bluetooth is a short-range wireless technology used to create PANs (Personal Area Networks) among your devices, and with other nearby devices. Bluetooth allows you to leave your phone in your pocket, while talking on your phone with a Bluetooth headset - with no wires. You can also exchange contact or scheduling information with other Bluetooth-enabled phones nearby, or send such information to a nearby Bluetooth-enabled printer. Another common use is to give your laptop computer or PDA wireless high-speed Internet access via Bluetooth and your phone. Many newer automobiles also have Bluetooth, which can interface with a phone in a pocket, to allow automatic hands-free phone capability. More innovative uses include playing a game against someone with a similar phone nearby, or using a special Bluetooth pen to send SMS messages by simply writing them on paper. Blueooth functionality is divided into seperate types of connections known as "profiles". Each of the various scenarios outlined above involve a different profile. Not all Bluetooth devices support all profiles. For example, a Bluetooth headset might only support the Headset profile, while others might support both Headset and the similar Handsfree profile, for increased compatibility. Similarly, a phone might only support the Handsfree profile, and not the Headset profile, while other phones might support both. Bluetooth is named for the 10th century Viking, King Herald Bluetooth. just talked to one of the nextel dealers about the i870 because i was thinking of upgrading my i90 to something better. i asked if nextel had a bluetooth flip coming out soon. according to him, yes, the i870 is a bluetooth flip with a 1.0 or 1.3 megapixel camera, and mp3 controls on the front. will sell for 300-350 and the planned release is november-september 05. we'll see if the release date holds true.
i'm definitely waiting to upgrade until the nicer stuff comes out. chef **EDIT** dealer also said that it will have the push-to-open button as the i860 does, but the pictures don't seem to indicate that. makes me wonder. Last edited by chef13007 : 08-09-2005 at 12:47 PM. |

If you look at the pics, the flip appears to be on the bottom side of the phone opposite of the earpiece hole Last edited by lolamarya : 08-09-2005 at 11:49 PM. |

Here is the line up of all the new boost phones. Here is what I heard about the phones:
Good news for September, we have 5 new phones arriving just in time for back to school, including the i415 replacing the old i215, the i835 an all-black version of the i830, the i833 Baby Phat, the i450 our first inexpensive flip phone since the i60, with color screen and caller ID on the outside, and finally the i855 camera phone which will be featured in 2 commercials now airing on television, one with Fat Joe and the other with Eve. |
